Hi! I’m Andrea Frey Metzger! I’m so glad you’re here.

As a fully bilingual Spanish and English speaker, I use wholehearted, creative, and embodied practices through therapy to journey with my clients to healing.

Prior to becoming a counselor, I worked as the Latin American director of an international nonprofit organization serving over 50,000 women and children through microenterprise, school meals and agriculture projects mainly in Central America, worked as a professional singer/songwriter in Mexico City, Mexico for over 5 years and at a community agency nonprofit organization as a caregiver for adolescents.

I believe in embodied care, meaning I look at the whole person and not just the thoughts or the mental space. As an emotionally focused, experiential practitioner, I see the importance of and practice meditation, contemplative prayer, physical movement, and healing using creativity in practice in my own life. As a therapist, I believe that every person has the potential and drive toward healing, and I count it a gift to be able to sit and hear people’s stories and journey together.

I spent most of my formative years and some of my adult years in Mexico City, Mexico, and it is more home to me than any other place in the world.

Andrea Frey Metzger - Bilingual Therapist

  • Level 2 AEDP (Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapist)
  • EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy)
  • CPRT (Child Parent Relationship Therapy) Trainer

I work with individuals, couples, adolescents and families who are struggling with issues of anxiety, depression, and transition difficulties.

I am currently certified as a Level 2 AEDP therapist as well as a CPRT (Child-Parent Relationship Therapy) trainer. I specialize in work with third-culture kids (those who spent their formative years or a good portion of them in countries different from that of their parents) and crosscultural individuals and couples.I take a very creative, holistic approach to therapy. I have experience treating anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, working with couples who have experienced sexual difficulties, infidelity and general communication issues. Individually, I work with a host of issues ranging from anxiety and depression to specific issues involving grief, trauma, and transition issues from crosscultural moves.

With couples, I have worked with infidelity recovery, sexual difficulties, and general marriage issues. My approach to treating couples depends on each situation, but at a broad level EFT (Emotion-Focused Therapy) and AEDP (Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy) inform my therapeutic approach to sessions.
